Getting the Best Value Out of Your Beauty Routine

July 22, 2017 by Justin Weinger Leave a Comment

The beauty industry is worth around $445 billion worldwide and every year men and women alike spend thousands of dollars on maintaining their skin, hair, nails, and figures. However, money spent doesn’t always equal value gained, and there are certain treatments, services, and habits which are worth investing in as they give incredible returns. Knowing that you are maintaining your personal beauty in a fiscally responsible manner will make your smile brighter- even without any products!

  1. Choose Shellac

If you are going to get a manicure at a salon and want to really get your money’s worth, go with the shellac service. Even if your natural nails aren’t anything to write home about, the best defense against cracking, chipping and peeling is to choose shellac manicure. It’s a more durable nail color that lasts at least twice as long as a traditional nail polish without stripping your nail of all its natural goodness like acrylic or gel nails do. It is more expensive than the plain manicure option, but offers much longer lasting and better quality results!

  1. Choose Highlights

Dyeing your hair can be the single most expensive commitment you can make to your look. Depending on the difference in shade between your natural colour and your new one, you might need to visit the salon anywhere from every 3 weeks to every 2 months to keep your hair looking as it should. Not to mention, color treatment is an expensive service to begin with, so it’s not something you want to be adding to your budget on a monthly basis! By choosing highlights over an all-over colour, you prolong your time between appointments. Thanks to the more natural looking application, having your roots grow in can actually add a more attractive additional dimension instead of looking like you have failed to maintain it.

  1. Drink Water

One of the cheapest and easiest beauty tricks of all time: drink lots of water. In addition to all the health benefits that this habit provides, it does wonder for the clarity of your skin, minimizes the look of cellulite, and keeps your energy levels high. It does this by clearing out toxins in your body which would otherwise result in blemishes and dark circles. If you are finding it difficult to get the right amount of fluids, invest in a nice bottle that you don’t mind toting around. It will motivate you to keep taking sips throughout the day and effortlessly consume your recommended glasses of water.

  1. Daily Maintenance

Instead of having to visit the spa for an exfoliating treatment or give some life back to your hair with a deep conditioning treatment, why not maintain it regularly so that you don’t have to set off the SOS flare every few months?? Create a daily care ritual that you can sustain, because as you know, prevention and being proactive is the greatest cure for conditions you never want to treat. Moisturize after every shower, condition your hair with every wash and treat it to a mask every week, apply home treatments to your nails so that they grow strong and healthy, and remember to eat healthily to provide your body with all the nutrients you need.

So next time you make an appointment at your favourite salon or stand in the aisles of your drugstore, remember to look at your beauty routine as an investment. Choose options that gives you the best return in terms of longevity, effect, and cost. Be careful- just because the initial price is cheaper, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is the best value!
