Spreading the Gospel: Make Money Blogging and Chase Your Dreams

November 9, 2013 by Justin Weinger 4 Comments

make money bloggingThis week has been a pretty rough one for a lot of reasons. You know how I was trying to get around that 6-month rule at my job so I could get a better job sooner? They denied my exception—not because I’m not qualified, but because the job is a recurring one and they aren’t desperate for a candidate immediately. Not that that makes sense, since I could very well be the best candidate for the position, but we’ll leave the stupidity of corporate policies at the expense of common sense for a later day.

Other crap has come up too, but today’s post isn’t about me! It’s about all those awesome PF bloggers who are rocking my world with their unique perspectives on the personal finance world. So here we go!

How to Make an Extra $10,000 in 6 Months by Sam at Frugaling – this article was pretty inspiring for me because I’m working toward turning this blog into a business and also as a launching pad into other freelance and personal finance stuff. So it was pretty awesome that he’s made $10,000 in just the first 6 months! Hopefully there’s an article forthcoming on all the juicy details on how he did it 🙂

The Case Against Minimalism by Erin at Broke Millennial – Erin gives great perspective on the minimalism tidal wave that’s sweeping the personal finance landscape. It helped me see that there are extremes on both sides and you have to make sure you have balance in between.

The Rise of Stealth Wealth: Ways to Stay Invisible From Society if You Have Money by Sam at Financial Samurai – Sam wrote a hilarious post about what to do to make sure people don’t know you have money so they will leave you alone/stop hating you. Moral of the story: if you want to stay wealthy, you’ve got to be stealthy 🙂

Could you Give it All Up to Chase a Dream? by Robert at Money Bulldog – This is an awesome article about the importance of living your dream. Too many of us get caught in the shackles of what our lives are “supposed to be like”. But really, you have to ask yourself what you really want. I just realized yesterday that I would absolutely love it to take some certification courses to perfect my German and start doing translating. That may not sound super fun to you, but I love everything that has to do with the German language, so it would be awesome to immerse myself in it again!

September 2013 Income Report by Jeff and Mandy at Dollars and Roses – If you thought that first article about earning $10,000 in 6 months was amazing, this one will knock your socks off! Granted, Jeff and Mandy are blogging veterans, but it really inspires me to know that there are opportunities out there to make a solid living online!

Have you read any good articles lately? It doesn’t have to be about personal finance, just something awesome or hilarious.
